
As capitalism鈥檚 inherent barbarism is being exposed to the world via the West鈥檚 enabling of genocide in Gaza, organisers of the Ecosocialism 2025 conference are confident its program will attract significant interest among those seeking to change the world.
Ecosocialism 2025, hosted by 91自拍论坛, will take place in Naarm/Melbourne over September 5-7. Its theme, 鈥淓cosocialism not barbarism鈥, articulates the alternative we need to build.
Amid an unprecedented rise in聽 in the West as the elites seek to enrich themselves from an arms race instead of taking real action to address runaway climate change, Ecosocialism 2025 will host activists from the Indo-Pacific, as well as Australia, in discussions about building mass movements of resistance.
Adam Hanieh, a scholar of Middle East political economy, who recently published聽, is one of the keynote speakers. His work unravels the dynamics of capitalism and imperialism in the Middle East.
Other featured speakers are: Ammar Ali Jan, general secretary of the Haqooq-e-Khalq party in Pakistan; Jess Spear, ecosocialist activist for People before Profit (Ireland); N Sai Balaji, a member of the Communist Party of India (Marxist-Leninist) Liberation; Merck Maguddayao, Party of the Labouring Masses in the Philippines; Youngsu Won, coordinator of the International Forum in South Korea; Amanda Shweeta Louis, chairperson of the youth wing of the Socialist Party of Malaysia; and Sue Bolton, Socialist Alliance鈥檚 fourth term Merri-bek councillor, who聽recently achieved 8%聽in the contested seat of Wills.
The conference will take place聽at the community space 聽in Brunswick, on the land of the Wurundjeri Woi-Wurrung people of the Kulin Nation.
