After several months of failed negotiations, radiology staff at I-MED Victoria stopped work on all sites on聽February 14.

I-MED,聽a radiology company owned by聽,聽increased聽its profits聽during the聽COVID-19 pandemic聽while聽staff have been overworked, understaffed and, at times, not provided appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).

I-MED聽staff,聽with the assistance of the聽Victorian Allied Health Professionals Association聽(VAHPA) were campaigning for wage rises, better conditions and paid pandemic leave, during enterprise bargaining.

Negotiations聽stalled when聽I-MED聽management made聽an offer on pay that,聽according to VAHPA lead organiser, Linda Jenkin, would mean workers 鈥済o backwards in real terms鈥. A majority聽rejected聽the offer and called for the聽industrial action.

Delegates聽at the stop-work said they had worked聽harder than ever through聽the pandemic.

VAHPA Secretary Craig McGregor said that 鈥淚-MED and聽similar companies survived the pandemic on the work done by these highly skilled Allied Health Professionals and it鈥檚 time this was recognised and rewarded鈥.

Industrial action is set to continue until I-MED Victoria offers a fair pay rise.
