Scottish socialists to 'build a nationwide resistance'

More than 120 branch delegates and a substantial number of visitors attended a conference in Glasgow on March 3 to finalise the Scottish Socialist Party鈥檚 manifesto for May鈥檚 Scottish Parliament elections.

Arrests at anti-nuke protest in Faslane, Scotland

Parliamentarians from the Scottish Socialist Party (SSP), the Dutch Socialist Party, the Greens and the Welsh nationalist Plaid Cymru party were arrested on January 8 following a protest at the Faslane nuclear submarine base on the River Clyde. At its first conference to be held since Tommy Sheridan and his supporters split from the Scottish Socialist Party to set up a rival organisation, SSP national convenor Colin Fox said that the party had been through a 鈥渞eal-life horror movie, a nightmare so acute that it would have broken other parties completely鈥, but 鈥渨ith every passing week, more and more people are overheard saying that it was the SSP that was telling the truth all along鈥.
