MELBOURNE — On February 10, Jack Thomas, who is facing charges under "anti-terrorism" laws, appealed the decision not to grant him bail. Under the "anti-terrorism" laws, suspects may not be granted bail unless there are exceptional mitigating circumstances. A decision on Thomas's appeal is expected on February 14.
Thomas is currently being held in solitary confinement in Victoria's maximum security Barwon Prison. A campaign for his release has been initiated in Melbourne, meeting every Tuesday at 6.30pm in the New International Bookshop, Trades Hall.
