REVIEW BY JONATHAN STRAUSS

The presentation by the Leicester Haymarket Theatre of its

one-woman show, The Bogus Woman, should be a welcome part

of the Adelaide Fringe in 2006.

When I saw this play performed in London five years ago, it

powerfully captured many facets of the experience of a

refugee: the decision to flee and the difficulties of flight, the actions of immigration authorities and detention camp guards and management, the legal quagmire refugees face, and

refugees' vulnerability when living without civil

rights. The setting is the refugee detention camp at

Campsfield in England.
