Adani lobbyist and former Queensland Labor Party state secretary Cameron Milner, who played a key role in the 2015 election win of Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk, has returned to Labor headquarters.

More than 350 activists participated in the Sydney Stop Adani Summit on September 2.

Participants came from a range of organisations. Some were part of the Stop Adani Alliance, which includes the Bob Brown Foundation, the Australian Conservation Foundation,聽, GetUp!, the Australian Youth Climate Coalition, the Seed Indigenous Youth Climate Network, Sea Shepherd and the Australian Marine Conservation Society.

Activists opposing the proposed megamine that Indian miner Adani wants to build in central Queensland have suffered two legal setbacks in their quest to block the mine.

On August 25, the Federal Court dismissed the appeal by the Australian Conservation Foundation against the federal government鈥檚 approval of Adani's Carmichael coalmine.

Queensland Premier Anastacia Palaszczuk鈥檚 2015 election commitments to transparent decision making, no 鈥渟ecret deals鈥 and that the Adani project must 鈥渟tand alone on its feet ... on the economics of the project itself鈥 have been challenged by documents released under a Right to Information request.

Stop Adani activists organised simultaneous protests at two branches of the Commonwealth Bank in Perth鈥檚 central business district on July 28, to highlight growing opposition to the CBA鈥檚 involvement with the Adani coalmine.

Activists rallied outside the bank鈥檚 main branch in the Murray Street mall and also occupied the Hay Street branch a block away.

The rally featured a human coal train chugging through the gathering, pulling carriages emblazoned with 鈥淪TOP funding dirty coal STOP ADANI鈥. The bank reacted by locking its doors.

Some 50 activists played protest games, sang and danced in the Commonwealth Bank鈥檚 foyer in Sydney on July 24. Stop Adani Sydney spokesperson Rada Germanos told 91自拍论坛 Weekly: 鈥淲e鈥檙e playing games in the Commonwealth Bank鈥檚 Sussex Street foyer calling on it to stop playing games with our collective future and pull out of funding the Adani Carmichael coal mine [in Queensland].鈥澛

Far North Queensland Stop Adani groups mobilised when the Queensland government announced its latest "governing from the regions" exercise would be in Cairns over July 10鈥14.

They wanted their message that the massive Carmichael coalmine must be stopped to become the main issue and not the government鈥檚 pork-barrelling.

Much has been made of the fact that on June 23, the same day the Fair Work Commission slashed penalty rates for retail and hospitality workers, federal politicians were granted yet another pay rise.

The Independent member for Cairns Rob Pyne made the following statement in the Queensland parliament on June 16, while holding up a piece of bleached coral.

This is coral 鈥 bleached coral. Be scared. Be afraid. It will not hurt you, but the global warming that killed it will. This bleached coral is the canary in the coalmine.

The (W&J) is involved in a remarkable struggle to assert their Indigenous rights in opposition to the proposed Adani Carmichael coalmine.

Despite the company鈥檚 board-level decision to proceed, the mine has all legal hurdles.

Stop Adani groups are rapidly springing up in cities and towns across northern Queensland, intent on helping the movement against the company鈥檚 Carmichael coalmine.

Campaign roadshows have been springboards, including in Townsville and Port Douglas, with others proposed for Gordonvale and the Atherton Tablelands.

There were chants and clicking knitting needles on June 9 as the Illawarra Knitting Nannas Against Gas (IKNAG) and Wollongong Climate Action Network (WCAN) joined concerned community members for a large, loud and long lunchtime rally outside the Commonwealth Bank in Wollongong.

They were there to tell the bank: 鈥淒on't wreck the Reef, don't wreck the climate and don't fund Adani鈥.
